Pallet Shuttle Rack
Apart from those warehouse solution allowing direct access to each pallet (as seen in our section "unit load ASRS"), multi-deep pallet storage system are another important group of solutions used for warehouse products where there’s relatively high level of inventory but limited SKUs .
Multi deep pallet racking system includes with Pallet Live Storage Racking, Drive-In/Drive-Thru Rack and Pallet Shuttle Rack. Among them, Pallet Shuttle Racking normally know as an upgrade drive-in racking system, based on it’s operation modes, this highly efficient storage system can be applied in both semi-automated and fully automated warehouses.
Shuttle Rack for Semi-automated Warehouse
HUAYIDE Radio Shuttle Pallet Rack System is a semi-automated system conjunction with forklift trucks. Our lithium battery based shuttles / satellites are remotely controlled by operator using a tablet with RF or WIFI connection. After receiving orders, operators only need to drive the forklifts that carry shuttle and pallet to the front of rack, shuttles move independently within each pallet shuttle rack channel, depositing the pallet in the first free placement location in the channel and compacting pallets as much as possible. Forklift no need to reach inside of the rack channel.
As each lane or each level of a lane (the same principle for Push-Back, Pallet Shuttle, and Live Racking Units) must have only a single SKU. This makes the process much simpler, faster. Meantime, the operator performs all of the procedures for the storing and extracting of pallets using a remote control, instead of forklifts during the storage process, not only reduces the risk of accidents, but also the maintenance costs resulting from damage of the rack.
This system is highly recommended in manufacturing businesses, especially those fast moving consumer goods, food, beverage and cold chain industries.
Shuttle Rack for Fully Automated Warehouse
In a fully automated warehouse, before entering the shuttle racks, all pallets will be checked for profile check & pallet barcode scanning will be done on both highways conveyors. After pallet barcode scanning Warehouse Managements System (WMS) will allocate storage locations for the pallet & pallet is conveyed further to Input Lift or Input Point. WMS will allocated one lane to one batch to avoid the mixing of SKU. Once storage activity is finished, the HUAYIDE WMS software sends a confirmation through the interface to the ERP to update the inventory.
The racking structure suitable for multi deep lane pallet storage consists of vertical upright, horizontal beam, cross beams and connecting tie members. It has advantages like: high storage density, high warehouse utilization, high work efficiency.
To fulfill above fully automated operation, many factors should be considered, including the stability and bearing capacity of the racking structure, precision deviation control, the intelligent and efficient operation of shuttle/satellite in the racking, the dynamic stability of the satellite /shuttle when carrying the pallet and the dynamic stability of racking structure. All of these put forward high requirements for the design of racking system.
