Military warehouses are mainly responsible for tasks such as the receipt, storage, maintenance and distribution of military materials. They are divided into military specialized warehouses and military comprehensive warehouses. The former includes ordnance warehouses, quartermaster warehouses, oil depots, medical warehouses, armored tank warehouses, automobile tractor warehouses, engineering equipment warehouses, communication equipment warehouses, training equipment warehouses, etc.; the latter includes warehouses storing multiple types of military materials, comprehensive supply warehouses for multiple military materials, etc. According to the storage conditions of materials, military warehouses can also be divided into base warehouses and field warehouses. The former are mostly permanent and semi-permanent warehouses, while the latter are mostly simple warehouses.

To meet the needs of modern warfare, military warehouses will gradually achieve automated, electronic and intensive management, and continuously improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse work. Currently, the armed forces of some countries focus on the construction of mobile warehouses, emphasize the establishment of regional warehouse groups with comprehensive support capabilities, enhance the protection capabilities of warehouses, and continuously improve the level of mechanized and automated management of warehouses
